As Engineering Trainee Scientist in Research & Development (R&D) you will support the R&D team in developing new sustainable products, especially new coating systems, for our wide range of specialty products. You will also participate in the development of new test methods to improve material analysis.

You will support the Novelis research and development team in the development of new sustainable products, especially new coating systems, for our wide range of specialty products
You will apply various analytical techniques to characterize coating systems and application products with a view to the complex manufacturing process steps involved
You will participate in the development of new test methods to improve material analysis
Based on your knowledge of the manufacturing capabilities at Novelis and their products and literature research, you will analyze further opportunities to initiate new projects, which you will partly lead yourself
You will work with an interdisciplinary and international team with a wide range of expertise (metals, modeling, polymers, surfaces, paint development) with the possibility to broaden your skills
You will prepare research reports and present the results also to Novelis global R&D teams and other internal business partners

How you convince us
You have successfully completed your Master's degree in the field of Polymer Science/ Polymer Material Science or similar
During your studies you were able to gain first experiences in the formulation of coatings

Your trainee at the Göttingen site
Locationinfo: The Göttingen plant in central Germany is an important European site for the production of beverage can stock and surface-treated aluminium for many attractive markets and employs around 700 people. It specializes in the surface treatment of aluminium coil stock and includes a research and development center primarily concerned with the study and development of surface coatings and the simulation of end-product manufacturing at the customer's site. In addition, the Göttingen plant supplies extruded bottles, cartridges, and cases for the automotive, construction, pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries.
Novelis is committed to the local community and works in numerous collaborations with schools to promote math and science education as well as robotics competitions and workshops.
