As an Engineering Trainee in Research & Development (R&D), you will support the R&D team in the development of sustainable products, especially alloys with a high recycled content, for our wide range of beverage can and specialty products.

You apply different analytical techniques to characterize the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum alloys with a view to the complex manufacturing process steps
You will support the Novelis R&D team in the development of sustainable products, especially alloys with high recycled content, for our wide range of beverage cans and specialty products
You will participate in the development of new methods for improved material analysis.
You will be part of an interdisciplinary and international team with wide-ranging expertise (metals, modeling, polymers, surfaces) with the opportunity to expand your capabilities
You will prepare research reports and present the results also to Novelis global R&D teams and other internal business partners

Your trainee at the Göttingen site
Locationinfo: The Göttingen plant in central Germany is an important European site for the production of beverage can stock and surface-treated aluminium for many attractive markets and employs around 700 people. It specializes in the surface treatment of aluminium coil stock and includes a research and development center primarily concerned with the study and development of surface coatings and the simulation of end-product manufacturing at the customer's site. In addition, the Göttingen plant supplies extruded bottles, cartridges, and cases for the automotive, construction, pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries.
Novelis is committed to the local community and works in numerous collaborations with schools to promote math and science education as well as robotics competitions and workshops.
